Blessings To All Mothers

(Photo by Microsoft Clipart) ~~ Mother’s Day - a special day honoring all mothers far and wide. I didn’t want the day to end without sending warm thoughts and best wishes to all of you out there privileged to be mothers.

I hope your day is filled with laughter and sweet sounds of children at play.

I hope you are honored and treated with respect this special day with much gratitude for which you so deserve.

I hope you are reminded of days gone by of times where all you did was run here and chase there making treasures of memories for the wee ones now grown.

You are a Mother – a role to be cherished for having the awesome responsibility of bearing children and taking part in keeping them safe, watching them grow and passing onto them your wisdom and stories.

On Children
Kahlil Gibran

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let our bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

God bless you on your special day – Mother’s Day.

Hi Pat,

I hope you had a happy Mother's Day.

That was nice of you to do this tribute.

The poem by Kahlil Gibran was a favorite of mine. I'm glad you shared it as I haven't read it for years. It so powerful, and true.

Barbara - Yes, I did have a Happy Mother's Day. I hope you did as well.

I think being a Mother or Father is one of the most important jobs we can have.

I'm glad they've set a day aside to honor the Mothers and Fathers to reflect on what they mean to us.

Thanks for stopping by - I always look forward to your comments. I know that poem by Kahlil Gibran stops you in your tracks and makes you think. It's a favorite of mine too.

Blessings,
